We’ve pulled together some basics to help you get started.

How does Walnut work?

Walnut allows patients to pay their medical bills either in full or in smaller installments.

Once your medical provider generates your bill, you’ll receive an email from support@hellowalnut.com with a link to your bill and a brief application. You’ll complete this application in 1-2 minutes and be shown your available payment options from there!

You can also apply directly at hellowalnut.com/apply

Once you initiate your payment or financing option, you’re able to schedule treatment and proceed with your care!

Who can apply for financing with Walnut?

Currently, we offer financing to patients with the following criteria:

- Your medical provider uses Walnut
- You’re a US Citizen with a valid social security number
- You have some credit history

Which payment methods does Walnut offer?

In most cases, you’ll have the option to pay in full with card or bank account and at least one financing option.

Our financing options currently include Splitit, Klarna, Affirm, and Afterpay.*

*The financing options available to you depend on a variety of factors including your provider’s Walnut setup, your state of residence, and your treatment cost.

Will this affect my credit score?

Applying with Walnut and paying in full will not affect your credit score.

If you proceed with a financing option, your credit score may drop a few points initially. However, making on time payments may positively impact your score in these cases.

Missed, late, or partial payments may impact your credit score, therefore we always recommend making payments on time.

If you are unable to make a payment on time, contact your lender directly (I need to make a change to my payment plan with Splitit/Klarna/Affirm/Afterpay). They may be able to change your due date, reschedule, or defer payments in cases of financial hardship.

How do I login?

In order to access your bill at a later time, please use the link sent to you from support@hellowalnut.com. This link will expire after you complete your payment.

To login to your account with an external financing company, click here.

If you accepted a loan with Walnut prior to 8/8/22, you can login here to view your account and make payments.

Are there any fees or interest?

There are no fees or interest applied when you pay in full.

If you go with one of our financing options, there may be interest or fees. These will be detailed when you go to accept your loan.

I need to cancel / I want a refund / My treatment cost has changed

Please contact your provider to discuss these changes as Walnut cannot adjust your account without their confirmation.

Providers will inform Walnut of any changes to your treatment cost.

If they determine that your treatment cost or cancellation fee is less than what you’ve paid through Walnut, you’ll receive a refund for the difference to your payment method.

i.e. You’ve paid $300 so far and after cancellation, your provider determines the cost of services used comes to $200. You’ll receive a refund of $100.

I need to make a change to my payment plan with Splitit/Klarna/Affirm/Afterpay
